Soil Monitoring Engineering was established by Richard Earl (PhD, MSc, CEng) and Kim Earl (BA) in 1989. Dr Earl is also a Senior Lecturer in Sports Surface Engineering at Cranfield University, UK.

The company specialises in the supply of tensiometers and soil water samplers to:

All instruments are manufactured, assembled and tested at the premises in Bedfordshire, England. Customers include:
